Foxcroft Academy accepts students who have demonstrated a great desire for learning and whose academic records indicate that they are capable of maintaining a solid "B" average in an intense and rigorous college preparatory curriculum. We strongly believe that education extends beyond the classroom and therefore want to accept students who are focused on academics yet also believe in experiential learning through co-curricular activities and clubs. All applicants must have a phone or in-person interview with an admissions counselor.

International boarding students entering: 
…9th grade must have a minimum TOEFL iBT score of 55+ / IELTS 3.0+ / SSAT 1600+
…10th grade must have a minimum TOEFL iBT score of 63+ / IELTS 4.0+ / SSAT 1650+
…11th grade students must have a minimum TOEFL iBT score of 74+ / IELTS 5.0+ / SSAT 1800+
…12th grade must demonstrate excellent academic performance and a minimum TOEFL iBT score of 85+ / IELTS 6.0+ / SSAT 1950+

No. However, we strongly suggest that students plan a visit to our campus and schedule an interview with the Admissions Director if at all possible. An online interview is required for students who cannot visit the campus. To schedule an online interview, please email: hello@foxcroftacademy.org

We offer a test-optional admissions process. However, if you want us to know more about how to best support your academic journey here you are more than welcome to share any relevant test scores with us. 

We make it our mission to know our students well: Their interests, strengths, and areas for growth. Our 1-on-1 admissions interviews are a great chance for you to help us understand how to best support your Foxcroft Academy experience.  We currently conduct admissions interviews via video conferencing platforms like Zoom, FaceTime, and Google Hangouts. 

Yes. All financial aid is need-based and parents must complete the Financial Aid Application and submit the completed form before financial aid packages can be determined.  Scholarships for academic achievement and civic engagement are determined by the admissions committee.

$54,000 includes tuition, room & board, meals, student health insurance, ESL courses, laundry, a bedding set, technology fees, an iPad for the year, transportation to and from Bangor International Airport, an SAT exam, any AP Exam fees, and activities. The family will have no other surprise, required fees.

Students should take a minimum of four core academic courses per semester. The Academy has two semesters, a fall semester that lasts from August to January and a spring semester that lasts from January to June.

Yes. Foxcroft Academy offers Latin, Spanish, German, and ESL.

Foxcroft Academy offers 8 IB courses, 21 AP courses, and 32 Honors courses. Guidance counselors, the Assistant Head of School for Academics, and faculty members review all course sign-ups to make sure students are placed appropriately. Additionally, we have partnered with several colleges and universities to offer dual-enrollment options to our students.

The average class size at Foxcroft is 14 students.

Foxcroft has an outstanding network of support for students who are struggling academically. Academic Support Periods are scheduled at the end of each day. Students who have an academic standing of a B- and below or who are not meeting the academic standards required for a given course are placed in an Academic Support Period until their grade has improved. Faculty members are also available before and after the school day for extra help. In addition, Foxcroft has a peer tutoring program in which students requesting help are matched with volunteer tutors. ESL instruction is provided to all international students as a regular part of the curriculum. Structured study sessions are also provided on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. 

Universities around the nation have taken notice that FA is a school on the rise, and the list of college acceptances for students from the past three graduating classes reflects this. Our guidance counselors work with students to identify the best colleges and universities based on students’ desired course of study and preference for location.

The Foxcroft Academy International Club sponsors at least one trip abroad each year, and these trips are available to all students. New travel destinations include France, Spain, Greece, England, Italy, and Costa Rica. Scholarships are available for these trips.

Foxcroft Academy features two state-of-the-art, on-campus dormitories. Herd Hall houses 60 boarding students and six faculty families. The Lodge houses 36 students and four faculty families.  Students share a room with one other student.  The two dormitories each have both a male and female wing as well as a large common area, kitchen facilities, study rooms, and wireless internet.

Yes. Most dorm rooms are doubles, but student proctors in the on-campus dorms have single rooms.

Yes. All rooms are furnished with a bed, chair, desk, bureau, large closet, and safe for each student. There is also a shared refrigerator/microwave combo in each room.

Washers and dryers are available on site in the dorms and are free to use. Scent free and color free detergent pods are available. (Please note that the payment for laundry use and detergent is incorporated into student life fees as part of our tuition.)

Yes. On school nights, quiet hours are enforced at the dorms after 8:00 pm. Study sessions in the dorms are from 8:30-10 pm, Sunday through Thursday nights. There is also a curfew for weekend nights.

FA does not require a uniform. The dress code, which is business casual, can be found in the Student Handbook.
