We strongly encourage all families, new and current, to apply for financial aid if they believe aid is needed in the upcoming school year.

A family's eligibility is determined through a careful analysis of information provided on SSS’ Parent’s Financial Statement (PFS) along with a submission of a family's current, complete income verification. Award sizes are determined by the St. Anne’s-Belfield School Financial Aid Committee, which is guided by a standardized calculation derived by SSS. This calculation considers gross taxable and non-taxable income, assets, liabilities, family size and the number of students in tuition charging institutions. After allowances for basic living necessities and taxes, discretionary income is considered available for education on a sliding scale. Families should expect to contribute to their child's educational costs at the highest possible level given their economic situation.

No. Financial awards are based on a family’s demonstrated need only.

Financial need and awards are recalculated every year, using current information. If there is little change in a family’s circumstances, one can expect that grants will be renewed at a similar level. Bear in mind that any tuition increases may be shared between the family and St. Anne’s-Belfield School.

Family circumstances differ greatly and there are factors other than income that affect award decisions. St. Anne’s-Belfield School is committed to meeting the need of a broad spectrum of families.

All applications for financial aid are confidential. Only the Financial Aid Committee and the head of school have access to the records.

No, but if you are a domestic day or boarding student it is possible, at the time of submission of your application, that your family may not be required to submit payment before submitting the application. The financial aid application (SSS) has formulas built into the application that automatically waive the application fee at the time of submission based on the way in which certain questions have been answered on your application. These questions include, but may not be limited to, income, assets and type of tax returns/schedules. This is an SSS process that takes place as you are submitting your completed application. The School does not manage or interact with this feature of the SSS online application for families who wish to be considered for financial aid. In cases of divorce or separation, St. Anne’s-Belfield School requires both biological parents to apply for financial aid. If there are extenuating circumstances that prevent one parent from applying, please contact financialaid@stab.org

Families who live outside of the US who do not file a US federal tax return, Form 1040, are asked to complete a PFS and do so by using US dollar equivalent. Families are also asked to provide documentation of the family’s total income, including a statement from their employer with annual income and wage reports.
