課程簡(jiǎn)介：

R.G. Collingwood, a British philosopher, suggested that history is an inquiry that helps us understand who we are by instructing us about what we have done. Prepedu tries to accomplish this by exposing students both to the interesting narratives that compose history and to the processes of discovering, understanding, interpreting, and explaining those narratives. These processes are catalysts for intellectual growth, for they broaden and enrich one's perception of human activity as they sharpen one's powers of analysis and communication. By extension, this course is designed for furthering our knowledge and appreciation of the nation's past, present, and future. We will collectively develop an understanding of social, political, economic, and cultural experiences that have played a crucial role in shaping the history of the nation. Students will work with complex primary source material, practice their presentation, debate, and writing skills.

拉丁語基礎(chǔ)

This course is designed to give students an intensive introduction to and foundation in the basic principles of Latin grammar and core vocabulary before embarking in formal study at some of the nation’s more academically challenging secondary schools. The course follows the general structure of theLudustextbook, which was developed at Phillips Exeter Academy, to take a ‘grammar-first’ approach to beginning Latin. Over the course of three-week thirty hours program, students will be introduced to Latin grammar, vocabulary, sentence structure, and study tips that will give them a solid grounding and head-start to whatever Latin program their school offers. Students should expect approximately one hour of homework (translation practice, memorization work) to prepare for each two-hour session. Each lesson will begin with a short quiz on vocabulary/forms to ensure retention.
